CURVED ATRIUM HOUSE @ BUKIT TIMAH
Architecture + Interiors
4 800 sqft, Semi-detached bungalow
Front Facade: A modest and clean line aesthetic conceals the grandeur of the Curved Atrium behind.
Entering the house, a visitor is treated to a heightened sense of space and depth.
The aesthetic direction involves a pursuit for a casual chic aesthetic that borrows strongly from modern Scandinavian design traditions.
Coupled with a myriad of raw and natural finishes working in tandem with an honest and subtle sensibility, the design of the bungalow is materialised as such.
Layout plans: The plans show the clever planning strategies applied in the insertion of the double volumed atrium space in a modest semi-detached landed plot.
Sitting on a typically sized semi-detached bungalow site, we inserted a curved 2 storey high atrium that detaches the main building volume from the parti wall.
This atrium serves to allow ample natural light into the deep recesses of the long linear house. Aside from this, the atrium also allows for good ventilation, visual and vertical connectivity throughout the entire house.
The double volume atrium serves as the grand entry, dining area and main circulation space of this semi-detached house.
At MU Architects, our unwavering commitment lies in meticulously materializing our designs with an unparalleled focus on precision. Please take a moment to explore the juxtaposition between the final photographs of the Curved Atrium space and the 3D visualizations crafted in the initial phases of the project.
